INTRODUCTION
I have been trying for years to verify the connection between my branch of the family and “THE WELSH SHEPHERD BOY”.
Thanks to a breakthrough provided by Janey Ricketts the mystery is solved.
Perhaps my uploading this Post on to my Blog may help others in a similar quest.

Hi Barbara – just come across your blog. The account of John Thomas the Welsh shepherd boy is wonderful. I have been researching the stories of the early Montgomeryshire Quakers, and I am telling the stories in a series of talks and walks starting Aug 16th 2016. If you would like further details, please email me on carolzpearce@btinternet.com. I’ve copied the text from my poser below. I live just a few miles from the Frochas where John Thomas was born, and will include his adventure in cast iron posts in my storytelling. Thank You! Carol

Hi Carol
Wish I lived nearer so that I could come to your talks!
I live in Castleford. West Yorkshire.
Barbara
Thanks for the comment.
Hi Carol, John Thomas (welsh shepherd boy) was my 6th great grandfather. Also my 8th great grandparents were the quakers, Edward & Katherine Evans, who were jailed in Welshpools ‘old crib’ for their beliefs in 1662. Edward died there 18 months later due to the dire filth and damp… they are mentioned in quite a few books re the Quakers.
Would love to hear one of your talks and will do my best to come down from Holyhead, for one of the Saturday events
Janey Ricketts
Hi Janey
Hope you can go to one of Carol’s talks. If you hear anyting new let me know please.
Barbara
Hi Janey It would be wonderful if you could manage to come to one of the talks or storywalks. It would be good to meet you. There is something in the story of John Thomas that resonates deeply with me, I’m not sure what it is. It’s like uncovering a gem. If you need any information, just call me on 01938 500787 or email carolzpearce@btinternet.com
Hi Barbara I want to let you know that I have been asked to do a talk on the links between the Early Montgomeryshire Quakers (which includes of course John Thomas) and Abraham Darby, at Ironbridge museum. It’s on Tues 8th August at 6pm at the Museum of the Gorge, as part of their Industrial Archaeology Seminar series. It’s free to get in. I am asked to tell the story of the Early Montgomeryshire Quakers a lot, and I always finish with the story of John Thomas.
Hi Carol I have answered your comment on the website. Thanks for letting me know. It has quite cheered me up because I am recovering from a heart attack which has really knocked me out. BARBARA
